Emergency power supply and UPS systems.
Technology under our care.

Protect your infrastructure from the effects of a power outage. We match the UPS to the actual load, plan maintenance and controlled shutdown of the systems.

IT specialist analyzing server configuration on laptop - Emergency power supply and UPS systems

A SCOPE TAILORED TO YOUR NEEDS

From analysis to everyday action.

  • Load analysis
  • Selection of UPS devices
  • Power backup plan
  • Integration with servers
  • Notifications and monitoring
  • Procedures for disabling services

The power and backup time depend on your needs

We check the consumption of devices, required stock and target expansion. We specify separately whether the UPS should maintain operation until another source is turned on or allow time for a safe shutdown. We take into account installation conditions, cooling and access to service. The selection should not be based solely on the sum of the powers from the nameplates.

Appropriate device topology

Different UPS solutions respond differently to disturbances and power transfers. We compare the requirements of servers, arrays and network devices with the capabilities of a given topology. In more important environments, we analyze the separation of power paths and common elements. The goal is a coherent design in which a single detail does not limit the resistance of the whole.

Controlled stoppage of services

When the sustain ends, the servers should exit in the specified order. We configure the integration of UPS signals with systems and the virtualization platform, if the devices support it. We test the shutdown and restart scenario. Thanks to this, after a power outage, the administrator knows which activities are performed automatically and which require his participation.

Battery condition under observation

Batteries wear out and react to environmental conditions. The maintenance plan includes inspections, device messages and the expected replacement date. Remote notifications can indicate battery life, overload or the need for service. We match alarm parameters to the environment so that important information reaches people responsible for the infrastructure.

Implementation with work plan

Power supply work requires establishing dependencies and proper workmanship. We agree on the scope of IT and elements requiring maintenance of the electrical installation. Documentation includes connected devices, expected operating hours and emergency procedures. After expanding the server room, it is worth checking the load again, rather than assuming that the previous selection is still sufficient.

FROM NEED TO SOLUTION

What might such a project look like?

A small server room with a virtualization host and array requires an agreed stop order. In the example configuration, the UPS signals a power outage, the system waits for a specified period of time, and then turns off applications and hosts. The project also includes how to restart the environment after the power returns.

TRANSPARENT COOPERATION

You know what we do.
And what will be the next step.

01

We get to know the environment

We collect requirements, dependencies and limitations. We determine the goal and data needed to prepare the scope of work.

02

We implement and check

We prepare a solution according to the agreed plan. Tests confirm that the scenarios needed by users work.

03

We transmit and maintain

We document the findings and results of work. We can plan further administration, support and development of the environment.

Let's prepare a good action plan.

The scope of "Load analysis" and the area of "UPS device selection" are worth assessing together with the current systems. A common list of dependencies helps indicate needed accesses, contact persons and activities that require prior preparation.

For “Power Backup Plan” tasks, we determine what data and resources are needed for testing. Acceptance scenarios should correspond to users' daily work and indicate how to recognize the correct result.

The plan for the “Service Disconnection Procedures” area can be developed with the organization. It's a good idea to revisit requirements when the number of users, applications, or locations change, rather than assuming that the previous settings still fit the new situation.

During the first conversation about your environment, we will agree with your team on user needs and priorities related to the daily work of the company. To begin with, you will need: information about the current organization of the environment and examples of situations requiring improvement. With this information, it will be easier for us to prepare a plan that meets the needs of your team.

ANSWERS BEFORE STARTING WORK

Questions about cooperation.

How long should I choose the backup time?

Depends on the load and purpose of protection. A UPS is selected differently for a short power outage and for a controlled shutdown of the entire environment.

Can UPS turn off virtual machines?

Yes, if the selected device, software and platform support such integration. We determine and check the scope of automation during testing.

Do I need to change the UPS after adding a server?

Not necessarily, but you need to calculate the load and support time. The expansion may also require changing the way devices are connected.
